About the Project:

Play Every Day Project

CFAR and Sesame Workshop India are now partnering in Delhi to launch and implement The Play Every Day Project, of the LEGO Foundation with children in the age group 3-6 years coming from diverse religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to develop play tools and activities which will encourage and facilitate education through play to enhance holistic development skills in children.

The Play Every Day Project has twofold objectives:

  • Increase parents awareness about importance of guided play for children’s development;
  • Enhance parents capacity for engaging actively in play

The Alpha Phase of this project beginning September 1 through November 30 will use a multi dimensional approach to help :

  • Arrive at language around play and learning
  • Identify the most effective medium/platform for content and message delivery
  • Strengthen our content and messaging leading to shift in knowledge and practice around guided play
  •  

The Alpha Phase will have 100 families who will be divided into four groups of 25 each.

Group 1-only parents-reached out through home visits-thrice a week for four weeks

Group 2-parents and children- reached out through workshops-thrice a week for four weeks

Group 3-parents and children- reached out through home visit and mobile apps for four weeks

Group 4-parents and children- reached out through community events-thrice a week for four weeks

The participating families will be identified on the basis of income SEC C and D and cultural, caste and ethnic diversities. Parents can be either mothers or fathers, but every parent should be one of the child’s primary caregivers. Participants will be drawn from low income communities where the program will likely be implemented. The educational background of parents considered for this work will be at least Class 10, and those who accept the importance of education in the overall development of children. 

Skills Required:

Applicants should possess the following skills:

  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and communication skills and sensitivity towards the needs and attitudes of the community
  • Knowledge in child development and early education practices
  • Knowledge of safe and appropriate activities for preschool children
  • Supervisory and time management skills
  • In-depth knowledge in at least two of the three periods of early childhood education: infants/toddlers; preschool/pre-k; and early primary grades and experience of work in NGOs at the field level will be an added advantage

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, childhood development, child psychology, B.Ed, Sociology, Anthropology or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience of working in play schools, nurseries or child counseling
  • Experience in child care
  • Fluent spoken, understanding and writing skills in Hindi and English
  • Readiness to travel and work in community settings
  • A firm commitment of participation for a period of 30 working days in the months of September to November
  • Willingness to participate in the workshop, document interactions with families and provide reports in English
  • A fixed amount of Rs.15,000/- and Rs.1,000/- for travel allowance would be paid for their service

NOTE: Preference would be given to a person with experience in urban development, WSH, Health and Gender with having good computer skills in MS Office & Internet and willing to travel to anywhere in Delhi. Only DELHI BASE shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Work conditions

Travel:  Expected to travel to different slums / basties for mobilization work. S/He is expected to participate in to meetings / trainings /workshops and conferences as and when required.

Working hours: The normal hours of work are 9:30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Saturday, excluding 2nd and 4th Saturdays and public holidays, but depending on the availability of women/children in the basties may have to go for meeting them before and after office hours or on holidays also.
